Audemars Piguet, a luxury Swiss watch manufacturer, envisioned a unique Swiss Chalet inflatable structure called ‘Curiosity’ to use as a promotional structure in the Marine Stadium in Miami.
The challenge was to create a replica of a Swiss Chalet to promote the launch of the new Audemars Piguet watch. The Swiss Chalet concept drew on the brand’s Swiss heritage, so detail was key to this complex design. It required a fully printed and shaped exterior and interior to represent the timber frame and structure of a real chalet.
Painstakingly designed to spec, the fully customised structure was designed, engineered and manufactured within a 14 week window. The chalet’s interior was complemented by the use of real timber windows, doors and glowing fireplace amongst other design details. The exterior included a snow covered roof and faux timber effect to add a realistic effect to the overall structure.
The impressive final structure was installed onto a pontoon at the Miami Marina and open to the general public for one weekend in 2013, attracting public and media attention. This in turn generated high levels of press coverage for Audemars Piguet.
